What are laser cut model railway kits?
Laser cut kits are precision-cut building kits made from MDF, plywood, card, or specialist laserboard. Using CAD design and industrial laser cutters, each component is cut accurately to ensure crisp detail and straightforward assembly.
Intentio kits are designed to produce highly detailed architectural models suitable for realistic layouts.
Are Intentio kits suitable for beginners?
Yes.
Our kits are designed to be:
- Logically layered
- Easy to assemble
- Clearly structured
- Compatible with common modelling adhesives
Some larger or more detailed kits are better suited to intermediate modellers, but most are enjoyable for anyone comfortable with basic model building.

What scales do you produce?
We currently produce kits in:
- OO Gauge (4mm scale)
- O Gauge (7mm scale)
- N Gauge (2mm scale)
Each product clearly states its scale. We also offer bespoke commissions in alternative scales upon request.
Do the kits come painted?
No — kits are supplied unpainted.
This allows you to:
- Match your layout’s weathering
- Customise colour schemes
- Add personal detailing
We recommend acrylic paints and light sanding before finishing.
What glue should I use?
We recommend Deluxe Materials but can also use
- PVA wood glue for MDF and plywood
- Superglue (CA) for small details
- Contact adhesive for layered card
Avoid excessive glue — laser cut kits fit precisely and require minimal adhesive.
Do the kits include instructions?
Yes.
Most kits include printed instructions. Many also have downloadable PDF instructions available via the product page.
Are the buildings historically accurate?
Intentio specialises in realistic railway architecture inspired by:

Some kits are freelance designs inspired by real prototypes, while others are closely based on specific styles.

How long does delivery take?
Most standard kits are dispatched within a few working days.
Bespoke commissions may take longer depending on complexity.
